Friendly Nutrition Tip |
Continued
from last month. . .
Tip #9-
Give your kids some
control. Ask your
children to take three
bites of all the
different kinds of food
on their plates and give
it a grade such as A, B,
C, D, or F. When healthy
foods - especially
certain vegetables-- get
high marks, serve them
more often. Offer the
items your children
don't like less
frequently. This lets
your children
participate in decision
making. After all,
dining is a family
affair.
Look out for
tip #10 next month.

| Meet
Miss Ve-Ve |
Miss Ve-Ve was a
competitive gymnast for ten
years. She participated in
three Junior Olympics in Des
Moines, Iowa; Orlando,
Florida, and Virginia Beach,
Virginia. In 2002 she
retired as a gymnast and
became interested in dance.
She studied jazz, tap, and
ballet at Emerson Visual
Performing Arts in Gary,
Indiana for four years.
Ve-Ve also traveled across the
Midwest while employed with
Universal Cheerleaders
Association (UCA) teaching
young cheerleaders tumbling,
dance, cheers, and stunts.
Did you know Miss Ve-Ve's
favorite color is purple? If
she could go anywhere in the
world she would go to the
Bahamas. We are so happy
she is a part of our team and
her students love her too!

Patti's
Personal Post
At this time of
year it is without a doubt the
best time for me to thank you.
No--I mean really thank
you. I get choked up this
time of year when I think of the
blessings that have been
bestowed upon my family and
me, and it's because of all
of you. I say it every
year- I have people
thanking me for this gym, the
staff and what Patti's
All-American has done for their
child. You have no idea
what your patronage has meant to
me. The holidays and the
fact that it's the end of
another year makes it a
good time to reflect. This
year (as I'm sure you heard many
times) I celebrated 40
years in business. I couldn't
have done it without you. I have
families who have been
with us for 15 years. That's amazing!
People ask me when I'm going to
retire. I tell them when it's
not fun anymore. Well--it's a
lot of fun! I will tell you this
business is my passion--I eat,
sleep, and dream about it. Know
that I lead this company with
you in mind and base all my
decisions on what I think is best
for your children, our students.
Please take time to let me know
if what we are doing isn't what
you want. Don't leave my gym
without letting us try to make
it right. Know that we are here
for you and only want your
happiness and satisfaction. Ask
anyone what their highest
priorities are, and they will
tell you their relationships
with family and friends. A great
benefit of the economic
recession this past year is that
it forces us to assess what's
really important.
"Things" have lost
their luster, and relationships
have become our saving grace.
With this thought... I thank you
again for our relationship and
from my family (my husband, Bob,
Joe, and Kelly) to yours,
may you and your family have a
wonderful, healthy, and happy
holiday season.

Holiday
Celebration
News-
On Dec. 17th (for T/TH
classes) and Dec.18 (for MWF
classes) the children will
have their "Holiday
Celebration" during
class. Each child needs to bring
in a $5.00, non-gender gift to
exchange with a fellow
student. The children will
enjoy a snack and play Pass
the Present and Holiday Bean
Bags along with other holiday
themed games.
We will hold registration for
our current customers to sign
up for fall, 2010 starting
January 11th. The following
Monday starts registration for
the general public. For our
popular times, we sell out
very early. Mark your
calendar.
In November the Gym-N-Learn
students "adopted" a
soldier stationed in Iraq. Students,
along with Miss Amy, Miss
Nicole, Miss Pat, and Miss
Yessinia sent their solider
cookies and Christmas
ornaments the kids created
themselves. Miss Nicole says,
"We did this as a way to
let him know people at home
are thinking of him."

Exercise
and Charity Go Hand in Hand
|
The
week of November 9th was more
than just an ordinary week. Our
Moms, Dads, and students brought
canned goods to donate to the NW
Indiana Food Bank. We had a tremendous
response! In addition to
receiving a lesson on giving,
students also got a fun lesson
on how they can use every
day items to grow stronger. As
you can see Miss Diane is showing her
students, Avery Anderson and
Annabella Visak how to
exercise with their cans.
Students worked on their bicep
curls, tricep extensions,
overhead press, lateral lifts,
and more. So thank you Moms, Dads,
and students for helping us
help those in need. Click here for
more information on the NW Indiana
Food Bank.

Takes the Cake!
|
|
On November 7th, Mikayla Reay
celebrated her 12th birthday by
having a party with her family and friends
here at the gym. Her
talented mom, Elizabeth, made a
Patti's All-American themed cake
for her special day. It shows all
the details of the gym including
the Tumbl Trak, Olympic style
floor, bars, and props. Mikayla
attends Tumbling & Trampoline
classes on Monday and Tuesday
nights. Check out the cutouts of
her teachers, Miss Ve-Ve and Miss
Brittany. There are even cut-outs
of Mikayla herself practicing the
skills she learned at Patti's. It's
a great cake and such a nice
compliment to the gym. We hope
Mikayla and her guests enjoyed
eating it!
